About Russ Lunn

My Journey

I have lived in Macon County with my partner, Carol for the last 10 years and this is where we plan on spending the rest of our lives. We are animal lovers and have a lot of pets including 5 dogs, 2 cats, goats, chickens and a very large Siberian Lynx (exotic cat). In my free time I enjoy fishing, hiking and flying model-remote control airplanes at Macon Aeromodelers club in Otto.

I grew up in Connecticut, so yes, I'm "not from here" but I moved back here 10 years ago because I fell in love with this area decades ago. I spent many years making motorcycle trips here and lived in Sylva for several years as well. I believe whether you were born here or like me just love this beautiful place, we can and should all work together to make our community a better place.

Growing up in a very poor family, I learned from the ripe age of 12 that if I was ever going to have anything it would come from my own hard work, discipline and strong work ethic. That's the age I started working and I have never stopped. I have been self-employed most of my life having owned many businesses I am very well versed in all aspects of business.

Why I'm Running

I was inspired to run for County Commissioner because I noticed the public being very vocal about many issues, but the Commissioner's don't seem to listen or discuss things openly enough, and I would like to change that.
